Negotiations are still underway to work out a cost-sharing agreement for upgrades to the capital city’s wastewater treatment facility.
The city must comply with new regulations that come into effect this year.
The mayors of St. John’s, Paradise and Mount Pearl all came out initially indicating that the timelines set were unattainable.
Concerns were also raised about the cost-sharing agreement, which would see municipalities foot 33 per cent of the capital cost, while the province pays 17 per cent.
Danny Breen says the cost-sharing arrangement for the project is still being finalized, and he’s hopeful for a resolution this year. He’s hopeful they will reach an agreement between all levels of government.
