A fence surrounding the baseball pitch at Holy Spirit in CBS was damaged yesterday after an empty school bus rolled backwards toward the field.

The incident happened after the high school closed for the day. It appears the bus was parked when its parking brake failed.

The bus rolled down a small slope and struck a large chain-link fence near the dugout. While the fence posts were battered towards the field, the bus was safely stopped before reaching home plate.

Reports from the scene indicate that no children were on the bus at the time, nor was the driver.

The bus had to be towed back onto the parking lot.
