Rotational workers are expressing anger and frustration with the way in which public health officials are tracking and identifying outbreak sites in Alberta.
Michael Dean says Public Health officials in that province are not accessing individual cases to determine the exact source of infection at known outbreak sites.
As a result says Dean, all positive cases at outbreak sites are linked to that place of work, instead of being traced back to find out where they originated.
That’s alarming says Dean because if NL is taking its information regarding outbreak sites from the Public Health Agency of Canada, which gets its information from the provinces, then outbreak sites may never come off the list.
Rotational workers from identified outbreak sites must self isolate for the full 14-day period after arriving back home regardless of whether they test negative or not. Dean says that’s especially frustrating for some rotational workers who are already contemplating their future.
He says some are already scanning real estate sites “looking for a change, that’s for sure,” says Dean. Take “our tax money and go somewhere where we’re appreciated.”
