Football fans normally gather for tailgate parties and rec room gatherings for Super Bowl Sunday, but the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health is warning that celebrations this weekend will look very different.
Dr. Janice Fitzgerald is warning that gatherings must be small and include close, consistent friends or contacts.
She says while the province’s Special Measures Orders limit informal gatherings to a maximum of 20 people, she’s encouraging people to “think long and hard” before planning or attending a gathering of that size.
Consider whether the people there are close and consistent contacts, and consider whether there is enough space to ensure physical distancing, warns Fitzgerald.
She reminds hosts not to serve shared bowls or trays of food, and never host or attend a gathering if you have any symptoms—however mild—even if you think it’s only a cold.
