The province is reporting three new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today.
The first case is a female between 20 and 39-years-old in the Eastern Health region and is related to travel. The individual is not a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador and came from Quebec for work. They are self-isolating and contact tracing is ongoing.
The second case is also a female between 20 and 39-years-old in Eastern Health. The source of infection is under investigation. In relation to this case, Public Health is asking anyone who worked at or visited Bigs Restaurant in Mount Pearl at 2 Olympic Drive, from Thursday, January 21 to Thursday, February 4 to contact 811 to arrange testing. The restaurant will be closed until staff are tested.
The third case is a man in his forties in the Western Health region and is also related to travel. The man is a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador and returned from work in British Columbia. He is a close contact of a previously known case and contact tracing is complete.
There are 17 active cases. No one is in hospital with the virus.
Presumptive Positive Case Update
Public Health is also providing an update on the presumptive positive case reported on Thursday.
The case was a man in his forties in Eastern Health.
After retesting at the provincial Public Health and Microbiology Laboratory, they confirmed the man tested negative and is not a case of COVID-19.
