News in the oil and gas sector has been grim of late, but there may be one bright spot in the Newfoundland offshore.
Oil industry consultant Rob Strong says CNOOC, the Chinese National Oil Company is planning to drill a well northeast of the Jeanne D’Arc Basin.
Strong says the Pelles well shows some promise.
Two international publications have identified the well as one to watch. He calls that a “small ray of hope on the horizon” in the offshore, but the results of that won’t be known until the fall.
