The President of Deacon Sports and Entertainment says he has yet to get a meeting with St. John’s City Council to go over his proposal for the purchase and revitalization of Mile One Centre.
Dean MacDonald has big plans for the 20-year old facility if council is open to selling it off.
Council now has a KPMG report focused on the pros and cons of putting the facility up for sale.
MacDonald says the city and St. John’s Sports and Entertainment have declined offers to meet, saying there is a process that must be followed.
He’s offering city officials to meet with him to see what it is they’re proposing.
MacDonald says Mile One is showing its age and he’s looking at a modern, updated facility that is not only focused on sporting events like hockey, but will also include an Esport arena for gaming events, theatres, a sports bar, craft brewery, expanded concessions and even a recording studio and arts centre.
