The metro region got about 27 cm of fresh snow yesterday and last night, some of it mixed with ice pellets.

That storm has left roads in rough shape in some areas with many school closures outside metro.

The western side of the island bears the brunt of it today. High winds and winter storm warnings will make for bad road conditions. Travel is not recommended on multiple roads.

The City of St. John’s has postponed garbage collection for this morning due to weather conditions in the forecast.

Waste and recycling collection in Area 2 is postponed until tomorrow, along with Area 3.

The city says collection may be later than normal due to the doubled collection routes.
