A Torbay bar is willing to lay claim to being the most easterly one in North America, unless someone can prove otherwise. The light-hearted controversy erupted earlier this week during VOCM’s On Target with Linda Swain.
It began with discussion of the most easterly and westerly points on either side of the Atlantic Ocean. But that, of course, quickly shifted to the question of which bar is closest to the other side. After a few Google Maps calculations, the numbers point to Mrs. Liddy’s in Torbay.
Owner Glenn Stokes says he’s more than happy to accept the title.
Stokes says Mrs. Liddy’s also happens to be the oldest established bar in the province.
