A Paradise couple did their part this week to help a distressed mother reunite with her offspring.
Nancy Woolridge, a local teacher, was walking her dog in the area of Goldfinch Drive in Paradise Wednesday morning when she noticed a duck walking back and forth across the road and quacking.
Woolridge says something about the situation didn’t feel right and it wasn’t long before she heard peeping coming from a storm sewer drain.
When she peeked in, she noticed “one little yellow duckling.” She called her husband and the town of Paradise who were quick to the scene. They managed to get an extendible pole from one neighbour and a net from another and one by one, they retrieved five little ducklings from the drain.
They reunited the ducklings with their mother who was waiting patiently on the sidelines, and they all went off together.
