Three men from Hopedale are back home safe and sound after running into trouble while boating off the coast of Labrador.

The men sent out a distress signal after encountering mechanical issues with their boat on Thursday afternoon.

They activated a SPOT device which they acquired on loan from the Hopedale RCMP Detachment which pinpointed their location in Kaniariktok Bay.

RCMP were able to contact Hopedale Ground Search and Rescue who launched a search located the three missing men by boat.

All three men were reported in good health.

SPOT devices are available at many RCMP detachments and are available on loan to those who are heading into the country or out on the water.
