A former premier, municipal councillor, and RNC officer has started a new chapter as the Executive Director of The Gathering Place.
The registered charity, founded by the Sisters of Mercy and Presentation Sisters in 1994, provides food, clothing, medical and dental help, and counselling services to some of the most vulnerable.
Paul Davis calls it a complex, but important variety of services that are offered to many people, but he’s up for the challenge.
He calls it a “very busy place,” with a very high standard and expectation of the quality of service and programming provided, but believes he’s fortunate in being given the opportunity to be given an opportunity to be part of such an organization.
Chair of the Gathering Place’s Board of Directors, Sister Elizabeth Davis says while they were disappointed when former Executive Director Joanne Thompson stepped down, they received a good response to the job posting and the Board was unanimous in choosing Paul Davis.
The candidate they were looking for someone who was respectful of others, had good standing in the community, knows what it means to be a leader, and someone who understands that volunteers and staff both matter.
