The Opposition says a lot of the credit for saving the Terra Nova project should go to luck and timing.
The PCs were quick to acknowledge government’s role in reaching a tentative deal, but they also note other fortunate factors such as rising oil prices and demand for low carbon, not to mention the commitment by the partners themselves.
Interim PC Leader David Brazil says he’ll be seeking more information on the process toward expected sanction by September of the FPSO refit.
He says a lot of the success had to do with timing and pure luck, some government policies, and the companies “stepping up to the plate and doing the right thing.”
