The tour boat business on the Avalon Peninsula is nowhere near the level of activity it was prior to 2020, but with the province beginning to open up, operators at least have some reason for optimism. And there are whales.
Gatherall’s and O’Brien’s in Bay Bulls formed a partnership last year just to survive during a very challenging 2020.
Mike Gatherall says most of their traffic consists of people from the region but they are gradually seeing bookings for the latter part of July from visitors abroad.
He says it’s going to be a while yet but they are seeing an uptick in bookings from people with no immediate connection to NL.
