RNC and RCMP Traffic Services issued a large number of tickets and seized a number of vehicles as part of traffic enforcement efforts on the Trans Canada Highway near Holyrood this past week.
Last Friday, June 25, and Tuesday past, police handed out nearly 70 tickets and impounded nine vehicles between Butter Pot Park and Paddy’s Pond area. Eight drivers were given $520 dollar tickets for traveling in excess of 51 km above the speed limit. They also had their licenses suspended and their vehicles impounded.
Police say the fine weather has lead to an increase in speeding on roads across the province and officers will continue the enforcement of speeding laws against aggressive drivers.
