We all dream of what we would do if we won the lottery; how we would spend it and who we would help out with a few extra dollars.
But what would a small business do if they sold the winning lottery ticket?
South End Gas and Convenience in Gambo recently sold a winning lotto 649 ticket and went on a giving spree.
The winning ticket fetched a cool $3 million for the holder while the store received the seller’s prize of one per cent.
Owner Boom Collins shared the winnings with employees and four community organizations: The Lions Club, the Salvation Army Food Bank, the Gambo Recreation Committee and the volunteer fire department each received a cheque for $1000.
Collins says they decided to share as the $30,000 was “found” money. They called an “emergency” meeting of staff to clear up some issues from the weekend, a ruse to get them in on Canada Day in order to break the good news.
