The Innu Nation in Labrador is planning to rebuild after fire tore through its office in Sheshatshiu earlier this week.
Grand Chief Etienne Rich says they set out to renovate and expand their existing office building to better accommodate their growing presence.
However, those plans came to a halt this week when the structure was set alight in what police are investigating as arson.
Rich says they’re fortunate to have moved all the important items, such as documents and artwork, out of their office and into safe storage.
He says there has been no interruption to their operations as the Innu Nation has been temporarily working out of Happy Valley-Goose Bay since the spring.
Rich says they will meet with their contractors and project manager to decide their next steps. He hopes that they will be able to start construction again before the fall.
