Many government offices across the province are closed today due to the Orangeman’s Day holiday.
In St. John’s all city offices will be closed, and this week’s council meeting will take place tomorrow. However, there are many other services that are unaffected by the holiday. Garbage and recycling collection is going ahead, Robin Hood Bay is open, and all recreation facilities and day camps are proceeding as usual.
As well, all parking regulations in the downtown will be enforced as today is not a statutory holiday.
Meanwhile, an update on Newfoundland and Labrador’s COVID-19 situation is not expected today as most government offices are closed.
Last month, the province announced that it would no longer be issuing the advisories on weekends or provincial government holidays.
The province has not seen many new cases of the virus over the last little while.
Fourteen new cases were identified last week on a ship anchored in Conception Bay, however public health assures those cases are confined to the vessel.
Outside of the ship, a new case of the virus hasn’t been reported since last Monday. As of Friday, including the ship, there are 16 cases of the virus in the province, all of which are in Eastern Health.
The next update is expected tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
