A 21-year-old Stephenville man is facing a list of charges after being stopped by police earlier this week.
RCMP pulled a vehicle over on Grove Street in Stephenville around 2:00 Monday morning. Police say the driver, who was driving without insurance, showed signs of drug impairment and tested positive for cannabis on roadside screening equipment.
The man was arrested for impaired driving. He was also issued a seven-day driver’s licence suspension and was ticketed for driving without insurance. The vehicle was seized and impounded.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of cocaine, prescription mediation, cash, and a prohibited weapon.
The accused was later tested in hospital and police are awaiting the results to determine if charges of drug-impaired driving are appropriate.
He’s also facing charges of drug trafficking and weapons offences.
