Deacon Sports & Entertainment was quick to respond with its own “fast facts.”

In a release issued last night, Deacon Sports & Entertainment says the notion that the teams had a choice in not signing a ten-year lease agreement for Mile One is “preposterous.”
The company says the lease contained terms and conditions that were “unreasonably excessive for this type of agreement” – the main point of contention being that St. John’s Sport & Entertainment wanted DSE to take on past and future liabilities of Atlantic Sport & Entertainment under the lease, including a known $1 million dollar liability.
SJSE says DSE’s allegations that the Board and Management of SJSE acted in bad faith are unfounded but DSE says to negotiate with another party without notifying DSE was disingenuous.
