A prominent Newfoundland and Labrador rugby player is hanging up his cleats.
Ciaran Hearn retired on Saturday after playing the sport for more than 23 years.
According to the Newfoundland and Labrador Rugby Union, Hearn began his playing career with the Baymen Rugby Club in Conception Bay South at age 13. He has played in multiple Rugby World Cups and won gold at the 2011 Pan American Games in Mexico.
Hearn played professionally with the London Irish of the Aviva Premiership in the United Kingdom between 2015 and 2019 and finished his professional career with the Old Glory DC of the Major League Rugby in Washington, D.C., during the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
