He’s known as the pushup man, and during his latest campaign in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Bill Guiney will be living up to the name.
Guiney is set to begin a walk across NL this week to raise awareness and funds for the organization. For every kilometer walked he will be doing 10 pushups.
He will be starting in Port Aux Basques and will be finishing up at Signal Hill in St. John’s — according to Guiney that’s about 1,160 kms, meaning he’ll be doing 11,600 pushups.
Guiney has been training for the trek for about six months and that he’s not concerned about the pushup aspect as he has been doing those challenges for six years, but he’s going to have to see how his legs hold up for the walk.
Guiney will begin his walk in Port aux Basques and will arrive back in St. John’s around August 20th.
He hopes to raise about $30,000 for the association.
People can donate in person when Guiney is passing through, by texting “mental Health” to 20222 or online at cmhanl.ca.
