A local lawyer is gathering information for a potential lawsuit against the RNC.
Lynn Moore posted to Facebook looking for people who may have been sexually assaulted by a police officer while on duty.
Moore says she was initially aware of incidents involving two officers, one of whom was Douglas Snelgrove who was found guilty earlier this year of sexually assaulting a woman he picked up from the downtown back in 2014.
Since her social media post, Moore has subsequently heard from other women. “And I’m now aware of four police officers,” says Moore. All the incidents occurred in the past, and all the officers allegedly involved are retired according to Moore.
Moore says some of the incidents date from 6-8 years ago, while others go back further than that, but the issue remains a serious concern.
“I don’t know if it’s happening today, I don’t have any information that it is,” says Moore, “but when you have four individuals using their power in much the same way, it’s certainly very concerning for me.”
Meanwhile, the RNC will respond to the situation Wednesday morning.
RNC Supt. Tom Warren will address the matter with media at 10 a.m. at RNC Headquarters.
VOCM News will be there.
