A small group gathered in front of the Colonial Building to place hand-made flags on the fence to honour Indigenous children found in unmarked graves at residential school sites across the country.
Around 3,000 flags, ribbons, flowers, and rocks have been placed on the fence, one for each child found.
Sylvia Murphy, the organizer of the event, says each article is placed to put in perspective just what 3,000 of something looks like.
She wants to see the looks on people’s faces when they see 3,000 flags and realize each is a child taken before their time.
