A man whose vehicle had already been equipped with “ignition interlock” has been arrested by Bay Roberts RCMP for drugged driving after striking a car in the parking lot of a local business.
Around 6:30 Tuesday evening, an SUV struck a parked car which had three occupants. The 33-year-old driver of the SUV showed signs of impairment, according to police, and was found to be in possession of prescription pills.
The interlock device, designed to activate if the driver’s blood alcohol is over a pre-set limit, stemmed from a previous conviction of impaired driving against the man. Nobody was injured.
The suspect will appear in court at a later date on charges of impaired driving.
