It’s been a long time coming, but the Town of Conception Bay South has finally broken ground on its new library.
The new facility was first announced in 2014, but faced numerous delays in officially getting the project started. The 8,000 square foot, $4-million facility will be located in Remembrance Square next to the existing recreation complex.

It will include a reading hall, multi-purpose rooms, a children’s programming space, maker space, and an outdoor reading garden. The facility will be leased by the provincial Library Board, and will be owned by the town.
CBS Mayor Terry French says having a library is important because it’s not just a place to go get a book anymore. He says the library is part of the center of the town, and is a “must” to go along with the rest of their infrastructure.
