The Trans Canada is now open in both directions following a lengthy road closure caused by an overnight collision just west of Chapel Arm.

The incident occurred just after 3:00 a.m. and forced the closure of the highway as first responders and investigators responded to the scene.

Traffic was being detoured around the site along the Trinity shore. The road reopened to traffic shortly before 11:00.

The Trans Canada Highway near the Chapel Arm turnoff is currently blocked in both directions due to a collision.

The advisory, affecting both lanes just west of the turnoff, was issued by RCMP just after 3:30 this morning.

Police are warning of delays in the area. Updates will be provided as they become available.
