A 13-year-old rising tennis star from St. John’s is Atlantic Canada’s Under-14 tennis champion.
Declan Walsh of the Greenbelt Tennis Club picked up right where he left off at the Junior Atlantic Tennis Championships in Charlottetown, PEI this past weekend after his last championship just two weekends ago in New Brunswick.
Walsh won the Under-14 Atlantic Championships 7-6 and 6-4.
He also competed in the Under-16 Atlantic’s, finishing in 3rd place.
His win and third-place finish were enough to punch his ticket to the National Championships in both divisions in Laval, Quebec in mid-September, which he told VOCM News before the tournament was the ultimate goal.
