About 130 Canadian athletes are in Tokyo for the 2021 Paralympic Games, and a local legend from the west coast is among them.
Paralympic medalist Katarina Roxon is competing in four events in this year’s games. Her first appearance is tonight at close to midnight in the first heat of the 100 metre breaststroke.
She took home gold in the same category at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Following her win, the provincial government renamed Route 490—to her home town of Kippens—Katarina Roxon Way.
