Police will be out in force on this, the last long weekend of summer so drivers can expect to see more flashing lights and checkpoints.
RCMP Cst. John Collins of Traffic Services East on the Avalon Peninsula says they’ll be watching for the usual infractions including speeding, distracted driving, impairment and the lack of seatbelts.
He can go to an area every other day and still pick off a few people who are not wearing their seatbelt.
Traffic will be heavy this afternoon and evening, drop off for a couple of days, then pick up again on Monday.
