The big game rifle hunting season opens tomorrow in the province.
Big game bow-hunting opened August 28th.
A total of 28,324 moose licences have been issued this season, including 17,890 for either sex and almost 10,000 for male-only, as well as 475 licences for not-for-profit organizations.
In Labrador, 384 licences were issued for moose of either sex.
As for caribou, 575 licences were awarded on the island, while caribou hunting in the Big Land remains prohibited.
Hunters are also encouraged to drop off big game jawbones at numerous locations in the province and receive a Co-operating Hunter Crest for supporting big game population studies and research.
