Damage from Hurricane Larry is expected to be in the millions of dollars, although the province says it is still too early to put a dollar figure on the amount.
Premier Andrew Furey says crews are still in the process of assessing the damage but repairs have begun on high-priority items such as roads.
The Premier says he has reached out to the mayors of the affected municipalities and area MHAs to figure out what needs to be done.

He points to damage to the road between St. Stephen’s and St. Vincent’s as something that needs to be addressed as the breakwater in the area has failed multiple times. As he understands it, the breakwater has given way about four times in the last decade. He says mitigation plans need to be put in place to ensure that doesn’t keep happening.
Placentia-St. Mary’s MHA Details Personal Losses in Admiral’s Beach Following Storm

The MHA for the district of Placentia-St. Mary’s says she was “disheartened and saddened” to hear of some of the personal losses suffered in Admiral’s Beach as Hurricane Larry ripped through the area over the weekend.
Sherry Gambin-Walsh’s district was one of the hardest hit by the storm.
She says many towns were damaged by the hurricane, although some of the worst personal losses were in Admiral’s Beach.
The MHA indicates that power and internet outages meant that it wasn’t until mid-day Saturday that she learned about some of the worst damage.
She says the breakwater was destroyed and the ocean came into the living rooms of four homes, destroying patios, furniture, and even shifted the floor of one home resulting in their chimney becoming cracked.

Marystown saw some property damage as a result of Hurricane Larry, but it was nothing like that suffered in 2010 following Igor.
Mayor Sam Synard says the storm caused a fair bit of property damage around town, especially along the coastline, but overall they fared better than during Hurricane Igor.
He says Igor was a much more violent storm, which caused millions of dollars of damage. Synard says while Larry also caused damage it wasn’t to the same extent as Igor.
