A man facing a long list of charges from a weekend incident with police appeared in court this morning.
Police converged in the area of Campbell and Cashin avenues in St. John’s late Saturday afternoon to a report of a man with a gun.
The intersection was closed and a tense police operation ensued between officers with weapons drawn, and a man inside a home.
37-year-old Robert Powers was eventually brought into custody without incident several hours later.
The long list of charges included using a firearm or imitation in the commission of an offence, careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and assault with a weapon.
