Nine new confirmed cases of COVID-19 are being reported in the province today. Eight are in the Eastern Health region and one is in the Western Health region.
Three of the cases reported in Eastern Health are linked to domestic travel, while one is related to international travel.
The remaining five cases in the province are contacts of a previously known case.
There is one new presumptive positive case in the Labrador-Grenfell Region.
There have been 14 new recoveries, leaving 40 active cases in the province.
Update on Clusters
Public Health has identified 15 confirmed cases linked to a cluster in the Northern Peninsula area. The identified cases are isolating and contact tracing continues. The source of the cluster remains under investigation.
The source of a cluster of eight cases in Western Health is also under investigation, as is the source of a cluster of five cases in the Eastern Health region.
Potential Exposure Sites
Public Health officials have issued a potential COVID-19 exposure advisory in relation to the ongoing investigation into cases in the Eastern Health region.
They’re asking anyone who visited the NLC Liquor Express at Foodland in Torbay on Saturday September 4th between 2:30 and 3:00 p.m. and the Jungle Jim’s on Torbay Road in St. John’s on Wednesday, September 8th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. to contact 811 to arrange for testing.
Those who visited those locations at those times and have symptoms are asked to isolate until 24 hours after their symptoms resolve and they receive a negative test.
Those who visited the locations and do not have symptoms do not have to isolate but must monitor for symptoms while waiting for their test result.
