There’s going to be a protest in Witless Bay this morning over a decision by council last night to forge ahead with a controversial road, which some fear will lead to the erosion of an environmentally sensitive area.
Municipal governments seldom make controversial decisions on non-urgent matters so near an election, but the town council called a special meeting last night to do just that despite a recent ruling by the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Information for the special public meeting of the Witless Bay Town Council for tonight – Mullowney's Lane extension and tender. For reference, here is a pic taken from the exact same place. They claim this 'road' has always existed & they're upgrading it. False. #nlpoli pic.twitter.com/RU2l5tDkuN

At question is an extension to Mullowney’s Lane, the only item on last night’s agenda.
People opposed to the development will be on site this morning and are vowing to block the construction company from moving in.
