Provincial government officials are awaiting the conclusion of municipal elections before sitting down with two new town councils.
The towns of Salmon Cove and Victoria are eager to find a solution to ongoing water waste concerns in the region.
An algae bloom at Forest Pond in June killed off fish and forced the temporary closure of a scheduled salmon river and the popular beach at Salmon Cove sands.
Concerned residents of Victoria and Salmon Cove held a rally outside area MHA Steve Crocker’s office last week seeking answers and an update on the situation.
Crocker says waste water management falls directly under the jurisdiction of municipal governments and they need to await the results of the municipal elections before sitting down with the two local town councils to discuss a way forward.
