There is a significant increase in the number of confirmed COVID cases in the province today, the largest portion of which are connected to a personal care home in central Newfoundland.
Public Health officials are reporting 15 new confirmed cases today – eleven cases in the Central Health region and four in the Eastern Health region.
That includes ten cases at the White Bay Retirement Living personal care facility in Baie Verte.
Eight of those cases involve residents who are over the age of 70.
All residents and staff have been tested and advised to quarantine.
The source of the cluster is under investigation and Public Health is trying to determine how the virus got into the home.
Visitor restrictions are now in place at the personal care home and community testing is underway in the region.
That brings to 46 the total number of confirmed COVID cases in the province, including one person in hospital.
