There were no injuries in a house fire in the Kenmount Terrace area of St. John’s Saturday afternoon.
The blaze broke out at the rear of number 15 Georgina Street shortly before 2 p.m., sending plumes of black smoke into the clear blue sky. Firefighters nonetheless made quick work of it, knocking it down to a smolder within 20 minutes.
First responders initially had a hard time getting to the scene amid the traffic and onlookers streaming to the area for a closer look.
Distraught residents of the home say the fire started on the back patio but it’s not clear how it was sparked.
The Red Cross was also on scene to provide assistance.
