Over 100 employers have come forward just one week after the provincial government introduced the Pathways Job Matching program.
The program matches employers with newcomers looking for work.

Minister of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills, Gerry Byrne says the labour shortage has hit the province and it’s causing employers to drastically change the way they do business – in some cases, businesses have been forced to reduce hours or even close.
Byrne calls the Pathway Matching service the first of its kind in Canada. He says the time is now to act and create a way for employers who need talent to be matched up with people eager and willing to work.
He says the number of highly educated newcomers in this province must be addressed in a meaningful way.
Byrne says NL has roughly 2000 non-permanent residents who possess open work permits. He says many are graduates of MUN or CNA and the Pathways program includes the spouses of newcomers as well.
