The Clarenville Heritage Society is disheartened by the recent theft of a vital piece of the area’s collective history.
Somehow, someone made off with three lengths of railway tracks which are used to operate the heritage society’s speeder on which they offer train rides.
The total weight of the lengths of stolen rails is around 1,500 pounds and chop saws and heavy equipment were used to remove portions of the rail bed.
The heritage society is offering a reward to anyone with information leading to those responsible. They’re asking people to keep an eye open for the possible use of old railway iron including boat slipways, or its use in jacking up a house or shed.
