Central Health is once again grappling with some staffing shortages that are resulting in a change in services.
The Health Authority today announced that the temporary diversion of obstetrical services in Gander to Grand Falls-Windsor is being extended due to “an inability to secure sufficient coverage to sustain safe and reliable services at two sites.”
1/4 REMINDER: Obstetrical Services diverting to Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre
Central Health would like to inform the public it will be extending the short-term diversion of obstetrical services.— Central Health (@CentralHealthNL) September 30, 2021
Central Health says it is “pursuing all avenues” to resolve the matter, and will provide updates when the situation changes. In the meantime, Midwifery services are still being offered for current clients at James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander.
The notification comes just days after Central Health announced that it is now offering virtual Emergency Room services at the Lewisporte Health Centre due to a physician shortage at the facility.
