The province’s tech sector is being touted as a bright light in what has otherwise been a bit of a challenging time.

Technology Minister Andrew Parsons says the tech sector continues to bring good news.

He says “literally, almost every single day there’s something positive getting announced in this sector.”

He announced more support for the local tech sector this morning in the form of a $10 million dollar investment in Venture Newfoundland and Labrador Limited Partnership 2.0. It follows a similar investment fund launched back in 2015. It will provide capital for new companies and complements private sector investment of just over $6.3 million dollars. Parsons says it’s paying off.

He says they’re still seeing the positive returns from the initial VNL investment which has resulted in nearly 270 jobs and $20.5 million in annual income to the local economy.
