Another 40 cubic metres of garbage was removed from the Outer Ring Road during a clean up yesterday that saw the highway closed for the better part of the day.
The Department of Transportation says crews used the time to replace signs, sweep sand from the overpasses and ramps repair two eroded sections of the shoulder of the highway, and complete bridge inspections.
The last cleanup took place in May.
The removed of 90 cubic metres of trash cost taxpayers about $80,000 at the time. The province vowed to conduct more frequent cleanups on the highway which is the route many drivers take to get to the landfill.
