It appears as though there is a widespread phone disruption in the CB North area affecting business and residential land lines.

It’s prompted an advisory from Eastern Health and the Carbonear Volunteer Fire Department for those seeking emergency services.

Eastern Health says inbound and outbound calls are affected at both the Carbonear General Hospital and Harbour Grace Community Site. The general public can call the main switchboard at 709-945-6246. In addition, residents needing to call the fire department should dial 911 as the direct lines are also experiencing problems.

The Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion is unaffected.

One Carbonear business tells VOCM News they’ve been told the outage may last throughout the day.
