The President of the Avalon T’Railways Council is disputing questions raised about the use of helmets in side-by-side vehicles.
The provincial government is introducing new legislation making the use of helmets mandatory on all off-road vehicles including snowmobiles and side-by-sides.
That caused Terra Nova MHA Lloyd Parrott to raise questions about the use of helmets in certain side-by-sides. He made the comments during debate in the House of Assembly yesterday.
Parrott questioned whether helmets might actually hinder users in certain side-by-sides with roll bars and moulded seats.
Noseworthy says helmets save lives.
He says modern helmets are designed for peripheral view, there are helmets for hot and cold weather and the manufacturer recommends that helmets be worn at all times. “They were designed for helmet use,” says Noseworthy.
