Six local teachers have been recognized with the Premier’s Award for Teaching, handed out in the lobby of Confederation Building yesterday.
The recipients include Colin Barry of St. Matthews in St. John’s, Matthew Grant of Holy Trinity High in Torbay, Stacey Hopkins of Leary’s Brook Junior High in St. John’s, Lindsay Janes of Crescent Collegiate in Blaketown, Celine Monnier of Ecole des Grands Vents in St. John’s and Sam Peterson of Brookside Intermediate in Portugal Cove-St. Philips.
Meanwhile eight teachers were recognized with the 2021 Minister of Education’s Award for Compassion in Teaching. They include Pamela Avery of Swift Current Academy, Kim Bonnell of Eric G. Lambert School in Churchill Falls, Nathalie Brunet of Macdonald Drive Junior High, Erin Coates of Mount Pearl Senior High, Dustin Rideout of ConnectED, Gail Spicer of St. James Regional High in Port aux Basques, Catherine Tansley of Mount Pearl Intermediate and Sara Toope of Beachy Cove Elementary in Portugal Cove-St. Philips.
