Four martial artists from this province made quite the splash at the World Karate Commission World Championships this past month in Orlando, Florida.
The members of Team Atlantic Canada included Ryan Bennett, Katelyn Ferrell, and Gavin St. Croix, representing Alex Foley’s Academy of Martial Arts, along with Scott Butler, of Rock Athletics.
Bennett captured his second world championship in the 15-17-year-old +80 heavyweight division.
Farrell earned her first world title, in the 15-17-year-old -55kg Continuous Sparring division.
Both St. Croix and Butler came away with silver medals in their respective divisions.
All four earned their spots on the team by previously becoming Canadian Champions this past summer.
