Efforts continue to restore IT services in the province’s health care system, “albeit slowly”, according to Health Minister John Haggie.
The minister was joined today by Premier Andrew Furey, Eastern Health CEO David Diamond and Vice President of Solutions and Infrastructure with the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information, Pat Hepditch for an update on what services are available and what services have yet to be restored.
Minister Haggie provided an update on services available through Central, Western, and Labrador Grenfell Health.
“Things are happening” in the background, says Haggie, who called the work being done a “steady climb up a big hill.”
Eastern Health CEO, David Diamond admits that there hasn’t been a lot of change since their last update, acknowledging what a difficult time it’s been for patients and health care workers.
He says for the time being patients will be contacted as the capacity is available.
He says until further notice, “we’ll call you” as they find capacity and workarounds.
