Brad Gushue has won his 12th grand slam with a 5-2 win over Bruce Mouat of Scotland in a hard-fought match. It was nip and tuck but Gushue now trails only Kevin Martin and Glenn Howard in the most grand slam victories on the tour.
The key end was the 7th in which Mouat, trailing 3-1 but with the hammer, was in position for 2 or 3 but Nichols made a great shot, Gushue followed and the Scottish skip came away with just the one.
Howard has 14 Grand Slam wins and Martin 18.
After the match, Gushue, who had curled 100 per cent at one point, credited Nichols with exceptional curling.
Excited to win a @grandslamcurl event after a few loses in the finals. Great game by @TeamMouat and an incredible run. Next up…the Trials! #championshipselfie pic.twitter.com/zm54mybS2X
