Regionalization was on the agenda at the Premier’s Forum on Local Government held on the weekend in Corner Brook.
Some 50 delegates attended the session along with Premier Andrew Furey and Municipal Affairs Minister Krista Lynn Howell.
Input was gathered, according to government, to help determine a model for regional governance as a way to help municipalities partner to deliver services in an efficient, and cost-effective way.
A Joint Working Group on Regionalization, that was established in 2020, is finalizing recommendations for consideration by the minister. That report is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
